image-005Enhanced New Beginnings Domestic Abuse Project

The “Enhanced New Beginnings” domestic abuse project started in 2015, a five-year project funded by the Big Lottery Fund, continuing on from the “New Beginnings” project. This need was identified by our core service and the vast amount of families that had suffered or were suffering domestic abuse.

We are able to provide a Project Co-ordinator, Project Workers and specialised trained Volunteers to support women and children suffering, or who have suffered, domestic abuse.

Upon referral, the organiser will contact the family to assess their needs and may offer support in one of the following ways:

  • One-to-One Support by home-visiting or in a safe place, or telephone support on a weekly basis, by the Domestic Abuse Project Workers or a Home-Start specialised trained Volunteer.
  • The Shepway Project, a variety of groups to support women to rebuild confidence and self-esteeem, including Butterflies, a women’s therapeutic support group; the Freedom Programme; the Phoenix Programme; Power to Change; and the Recovery Toolkit.
  • One Stop Shops at Folkestone Early Years Centre and Lydd’le Stars Children’s Centre.

We support families who have suffered or may be suffering any type of domestic abuse. For more information contact Amanda Walker at the Home-Start Shepway office.
