New Beginnings Domestic Abuse Project

The “New Beginnings” domestic abuse project started in 2010, a five year project funded by The Big Lottery, supported by CDRP and The Preventative Services Team. This need was identified by our core service and the vast amount of families that had or were suffering domestic abuse.
We are able to provide a Project Co-ordinator, Project Worker, Play Therapist and specialised trained volunteers to support women and children suffering, or who have suffered, Domestic Abuse.

Upon referral the organiser, currently working full time, will contact the family to assess their needs, and may offer our support in 6 ways:

• One to One Support by home-visiting or in a safe place or telephone support on a weekly basis, by the Domestic Abuse project worker or a Home-Start trained Volunteers.
• IDVA services.
• Women Support group, including Self esteem and Self Defence classes.
• Freedom Programme.
• Direct to the Domestic Abuse One Stop Shops in Shepway.
• The Power to Change.
• Domestic Abuse Childrens Group "Kalediscope".

We support families who have suffered or may be suffering any type of domestic abuse. We also co-facilitate the Freedom Programme to help women rebuild their confidence and self esteem. For more information contact Amanda Lewis at the Shepway office.
