Lower Leas Coastal Park
This annual event was another great success, attended by over 400 adults and children who joined in with the music, dancing, games, face painting and arts and crafts. The weather was ideal with a little breeze to cool the air (although it did also take the gazebo at times!)
Gingerbread staff came along and met many families who went away with leaflets, pens, balloons and valuable information on what support is available to one-parent families.
Emporium Parties (as ever) kept the children fully entertained and gave out a lot of prizes to the children for their many games.
Follies Face Painting had a never ending queue and worked hard with the queue still very evident well after the event was over.
Zena, Director of Reading for Wellbeing, came along and read stories for families who wanted a bit of a quieter time.
Staff from the Early Years Children’s Centre came along to offer arts and crafts and to give families information on “Change 4 Life”.
The Community Wardens, Bob and Neil, were as helpful as ever particularly in putting up, taking down and holding the gazebo down when the wind blew.
We distributed over 150 food boxes containing a bag of cheddars, fruit twists and a small pack of biscuits plus a bottle of water, with extra bottles available to anyone who looked to be overheating. Asda, Canterbury, very kindly donated some of this water.
