Help Shape the Future for Local Families
Join our Board of Trustees and play a vital role in the leadership and governance of Home-Start Shepway.

Become a Home‑Start Volunteer
How You Can Help
As a Home‑Start volunteer, you will support families to improve parenting and life skills, prepare for future challenges, and develop children’s early learning through play, reading, games and activities. You will also help families become more involved in their communities and manage day-to-day life.
Volunteers receive regular support and supervision, training opportunities, and can join volunteer events.
Volunteer Training
Home‑Start Shepway offers a free preparation course online to introduce you to our services. Additional modules, including Domestic Abuse awareness and Group Worker training, are available to enhance your skills. Ongoing in-house and external training, along with a Study Group and courses via Skills Network, help volunteers continue learning and developing.
Other Ways to Volunteer
From parenting programmes to social events, there are many opportunities for willing hands.
In addition to home visiting, Home‑Start Shepway offers a variety of ways to support families, including:
-
Parenting programmes
-
Parent and toddler groups
-
Specialist groups for dads, young parents, or women affected by domestic abuse
-
Social activities such as trips to parks, the seaside, cinema, and more
You may also have your own idea for volunteering; we’d love to hear it.
